Purpose

S106 funding to support the project with
£110,000 to enable the expansion of pre-school provision from
27 places to 50 places. The project will install a new mobile
building to provide the additional 23 places. The total cost of the
project is £130,000; the project has been allocated
£20,000 of capital funds. There are currently limited places
available with some sessions full. There is little to no capacity
with childminders in Oakham and a limited
number of local schools with a pre-school

Decision

To support the project with the sum of
£110,000 from S106 contributions.
Following the decision £110,000 will remain allocated to this
project for an 18-month period. The transfer of funds will be
subject to the receipt of a project plan and confirmed start date
for the works.

Alternative options considered

The alternative option would be to not support
funding for this project. There is funding available from unspent
S106 agreements and no other project coming forward to take
advantage of this at present. There is a risk that unspent S106
monies would need to be re-paid to developers in due
course
