Purpose

The decision is needed before consultation on Proposed Main Modifications of the emerging Local Plan can take place.

Decision

To approve a schedule of 100 Proposed Main Modifications (MMs) as set out in Appendix 1.

These MMs are needed to ensure that the emerging Local Plan can ultimately be found sound and legally compliant by the Inspector conducting the local plan examination.

To approve the publishing of a schedule of 40 Proposed Additional Modifications (Appendix 2).

These correct things like factual errors, updating, typographical errors, clarifications,etc.

To approve a schedule of 30 Proposed Policies Map Modifications (Appendix 3).

These make amendments to the Policies Map to reflect Proposed MMs, and correct errors brought to our attention since the plan was published at Regulation 19.

Alternative options considered

Alternative MMs could be included, and/or some of the MMs included could be excluded. However, any deviation from the list proposed - that has been agreed with the local plan Inspector – may not deliver against the legal compliance and soundness tests that is needed to enable the local plan to proceed to adoption.
