Mayor and Lead Member for Housing and Anti-Poverty, in exercise of the powers contained within the
City Council Constitution, do
hereby:
Approve the request for additional discretionary assistance
(£24,409.21) in excess of the value permissible under policy
(£50,000). The total value of discretionary assistance
requested will be £74,409.21, including VAT, via a legal
charge is £74,409.21
The
Reasons are:
This approval will support a
Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) policy exception allowing Salford
City Council to apply greater flexibility for Individual XX which
will enable the recommended adaptations to be completed thus
promoting Individual XX health, wellbeing and
independence.

This
report considers adaptations required to a property to meet
Individual XX’s needs. Total cost of the works proposed is
£104,409.21 (including a £10K contingency) and it is
proposed this is met by £30,000 mandatory DFG, £50,000
discretionary DFG (permissible under policy) and a further
£24,409.21 additional discretionary DFG.
It
has been confirmed that there is £183,124 of equity in the
property and the discretionary assistance (£74,409.21) will
be secured by way of a legal charge.
Costs will be met from the Disabled Facilities Grant.
