I, Councillor Cammell, Lead
Member for Children’s
Services, in exercise of the powers contained within the City
Council Constitution do hereby
approve: the indicative budgets costs of £4.2mto support the
creation of additional capacity at Primrose Hill Community Primary
School.
 
The
indicative budget costs for the 4-class modular build at Primrose
Hill Community Primary School is £4.2 million. These
costs include works to expand the existing play area, as well as
making good affected areas, impacted as part of the construction
work.
 
The Reasons are: In addition to providing an immediate
solution to support demand for September 2024 intake, the
additional planned accommodation will also support the increased
cohort of pupils have they move through the school and a further
immediate solution to support projected pupil demand across the
planning area post September 2024.
 
Options considered and rejected
were: N/A
 
Assessment of Risk: If the city council does not
increase its primary school provision to meet the projected demand,
then the city council would not be fulfilling its statutory duty in
relation to the provision of sufficient school places.
 
The source of funding
is: The capital costs will be
met from within the councils Basic Need grant
allocations.
 
Equality Impact Assessment: All
works will be undertaken in accordance with relevant equality and
DDA legislation and guidance.

The proposal will enable the Council to comply with its statutory
duty under the Education Act 1996 to provide sufficient places for
primary education in its area.

Strategic Finance Manager: The capital cost of this proposal will
be met from within the councils Basic Need grant allocations,
provision for which is included within the Children’s
Services Capital Programme.

procurement team will work with the project leads in ensuring the
correct process is undertaken in line with the public contract
regulations and the contractual standing orders.
