Salford City Council - Record of Decision

Title: Acquisition of Strategic Asset - Eccles

I, Councillor McCusker, Deputy City Mayor and Lead Member for Planning, Transport, Sustainable Development and Regeneration, in exercise of the powers contained within the City Council’s constitution do hereby;

  1. Approve the acquisition of a strategic asset in Eccles on the provisionally agreed terms.

  2. Authorise the Council’s Legal Service to progress and complete the associated legal formalities and take all steps required to give effect to the above recommendation.
  1. Delegate authority to the Executive Director of Place and the Section 151 officer to negotiate and finalise the commercial arrangements of this transaction and all other necessary ancillary agreements to allow the completion of the acquisition.

The Reasons:

The acquisition of the subject property would provide Children’s Services with a Council-owned asset that can be internally managed to provide support and care for children and young people across Salford.

The acquisition of the property will increase Children’s Services’ capacity to offer internal support and care for children and young people, and it will subsequently ease the financial pressure of having to utilise external services.

Assessment of Risk is low.
