Purpose
This report
proposes that additional grant funding is issued to Steel Valley
Project (SVP) and Sheffield Countryside Conservation Trust (SCCT)
for a 4-year term starting 2024/2025 and concluding 2027/2028. This
follows a review of the current grants to both organisations, which
are being expended in line with the Park and Countryside
objectives. It is proposed that each organisation receives a
further £40k for a four year period by way of new grant
agreements which will be funded from the existing Woodlands
Budget.
The report outlines the longstanding
contribution these voluntary and community sector organisations
have made to Sheffield’s environmental management and
engagement with local communities and how their ongoing work
supports Sheffield City Council plans and polices – notably
the Tree and Woodland Strategy, Green and Open Spaces Strategy and
The Council Plan outcomes.
