that the aims, objectives and activities associated with housing
decarbonisation are commensurate with the Committee
expectations

Alternatives Considered and Rejected
9.4.1
Alternative Option 1: Do nothing
This is not a viable option. The Council has
committed toward tackling the impacts of climate change and
becoming a net zero city. Decarbonising Sheffield’s housing
is a core element, with domestic housing representing 33% of the
city’s emissions. Furthermore, the energy efficiency
improvements to some of Sheffield’s low income and poorly
insulated homes is directly contributing toward tackling fuel
poverty.
9.4.2
Alternative Option 2: Partial Approach
It is important to be ambitious within the existing
resource and financial parameters. Swift, pragmatic action is
required to make progress against the city goals.
