The Corporate and Resources Scrutiny Committee
RESOLVED to note the report and provided the following comments to
officers.
 
·      
That consideration be given to reviewing and identifying barriers
to public engagement in the scrutiny process including meeting
locations and timings and to exploring alternative approaches that
could improve accessibility and involvement.
·      
That assurance be provided that a reduction in the number of
meetings and committees will not diminish the level of scrutiny,
and that appropriate resources remain in place to maintain
effective oversight.
·      
That the importance of a shared vision for scrutiny be recognised
across the wider Council, supported by the provision of appropriate
information and training.
·      
That Scrutiny be engaged at an earlier stage in the development of
new policy areas and emerging ways of working to support timely
oversight and constructive input.
