The Corporate and Resources Scrutiny Committee
RESOLVED to note the proposed Equality Objectives for Somerset
Council 2026-2030, the revised Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
Strategy and the refreshed Equality Impact Assessment document and
provided the following comments for consideration by the
Executive.
 
·      
Simplification of the Equality Impact Assessment form’s three
colour?coded columns to a single RAG rating with dynamic colour
formatting,  potentially embedded within
the PDF would improve clarity and readability.
·      
Consultation should offer alternative response routes and clear
signposting to accessibility support.
·      
The Annual Report should be presented to the Scrutiny Committee in
advance of Executive consideration and that timely updates are
provided to the Committee on a regular and ongoing basis.
·      
The Council Leadership objective be presented as the overarching
strategic principle rather than as a separate standalone
objective.
·      
Sight of the accompanying action plan and the anticipated tangible
outcomes should be presented to the Scrutiny Committee in the near future.
