Purpose
On 26
February 2026 the Grants Advisory Committee reviewed all Community
Chest applications received between 7 January 2026 and 7 February
2026.
Nine
applications were brought forward in
‘Appendix A’ of the meeting reports pack.
After
consideration of the application, the Committee recommended to the
Lead Cabinet Member for Resources that:
1.
Wilbrahams Environment Group (WEG) (BDRRMWSG) be approved and funded at the full amount
requested of £2,000
2.
The Gamlingay Food Project (Gamlingay Baptist
Church) (TQDTQQVZ) be approved and funded at
the full amount requested of £1,898.96
3.
Cambridge Cancer Help Centre (CCHC) (WBQLNBRW) be approved and funded at the full amount
requested of £2,000
4.
Headway Cambridge and Peterborough (CPCNJMND) be approved and funded at the full amount
requested of £1,044
5.
Cambridge Canoe Club (XGXCRVGK) be approved and funded at the full amount
requested of £1,989.50
6.
Namysto (QLGMGFJX) is not
funded, but deferred- please see the ‘Other options
considered and reasons for rejection’
section.
7.
Milton Community Centre and Recreation Grounds (MCC)
(JQZDHBSZ) is not funded, but deferred-
please see the ‘Other options considered and reasons for
rejection’ section.
8.
Function 5 CIC (KLLNPRFM) be
approved and funded at the full amount requested of
£2,000
9.
POP Collective CIC (FLLKVRWR)
be approved and funded at the full amount requested of
£1,800.
Content
To
accept the recommendations of the Grants Advisory Committee (see
above).
Reasons for the decision
The
applications were considered in detail by the Grants Advisory
Committee and there is sufficient budget available.
Alternative options considered
To
reject or vary the recommendations of the Grants Advisory Committee
and decide on the level of funding (£0 - £2,000) to be
awarded for each or defer a decision if further information is
required from grant applicants.
As per
above, the application from Namysto (QLGMGFJX) requesting
£2,000 has been deferred, pending further information on
whether a formal lease arrangement with the owner of the building
could be obtained or whether the owner could make an application
for Community Chest funding instead.
As per
above, the application from Milton Community Centre and Recreation
Grounds (MCC) (JQZDHBSZ) requesting £2,000 has
been deferred, pending further information on how much Milton
Parish Council already contribute towards the Community Centre or
whether they are prepared to part fund the kitchen
upgrade.
