Purpose

The purpose of this decision is
to adopt the newly created Greater Cambridge Air Quality Strategy,
which is a joint strategy between South Cambridgeshire District
Council (SCDC) and Cambridge City Council to allow for an
integrated approach to statutory and non-statutory air quality
duties. An air quality strategy is required by the Environment Act
2021 for local authoritiesthat donot haveany AirQuality
ManagementAreas, whichincludes SCDC.The joint nature of the
strategy allows for closer cross boundary work and alignment with
the emerging Greater Cambridge local plan.
Thisdecision hasbeen consideredpreviously
bythe Climateand EnvironmentAdvisory Committee (CEAC) on the
11th April 2024 where the
committee voted in favour of
recommendingto theLead CabinetMember toadopt theGreater
CambridgeAir Quality Strategy.
