Decision

Decision to be taken: South Holland District Council are looking to share a Senior Floating Support Officer who will be formally shared with Boston Borough Council and East Lindsey District Council until at least the 31 March 2028.

The decision being sought is under Section 113 of the Local Government Act 1972 for South Holland District Council to agree to this arrangement which will enable a combined role covering the Partnership areas.

Reasons for the decision

Back in June we received approval for 2 Senior Rough Sleeping Case Officers. For clarity this was for 1 Senior Rough Sleeping Case Officer and for 1 Senior Floating Support Officer.

The Senior Floating Support Officer role is proposed as a shared post across ELDC, BBC, and SHDC (SELCP) to maximise efficiency, reduce duplication, and provide a seamless, high-quality service to individuals at risk of or experiencing rough sleeping.

This shared arrangement enables the councils to benefit from a specialist, cross district resource without the full cost burden falling on a single authority. To ensure clarity this decision has been published for this named role.

Alternative options considered

Alternative Options considered and rejected: Recruitment of a Senior Officer for each council is not cost effective therefore rejected. This Senior Floating Support Officer role will work alongside the Senior Rough Sleeping Case Officer.
