Purpose

A highly experienced Interim Communications Manager joined the Bus Franchising team in September 2025 and has provided invaluable support. The purpose of this decision is to extend the contract for this role to 31st March 2027, on the terms of 3 days & 4 days per week alternating at £400 per day.

Bus Franchising is a high-profile programme that requires robust communications and significant public engagement, and it is imperative that we have sufficient resource in this space.

1) End contract on 30th June as per original terms
2) Extend contract whilst also seeking further resource for communications and engagement.

We have chosen option 2 so that the Interim Communications Manager can continue the strong work she has started in this area and build on the subject matter expertise she has developed. A permanent role within the central Communications Team will follow, along with additional resource for communications, engagement and stakeholder management.
