Purpose

To consider the report of the Leader of the Council recommending the adoption of Southampton 2035, a ten year plan for the City of Southampton.

Decision

(i)  To recommend the Southampton 2035 City Plan to Council for adoption as set out at Appendix 1.

Reasons for the decision

The Southampton 2035 City Plan sets out five missions for Southampton which strategic partners and major organisations across the city have been asked to adopt and work towards over the period 2025- 2035. This report seeks the Council’s adoption of the proposed Southampton 2035 missions.

Alternative options considered

The Council could choose not to adopt the Southampton 2035 City Plan missions. Without a clear and articulated set of priorities, which the City Plan provides, the effectiveness of our partnership working risks being reduced, and existing organisational relationships undermined, as other partners align behind the Southampton 2035 City Plan missions.
