Notice of Motion referred at Council 20th
March 2025 concerning disability, poverty and exercise concerning
issues such as financial constraints, lack of accessible
facilities, and limited opportunities for inclusive exercise
programs.

Content

The Cabinet considered a report
of the Executive Director (Adults and Communities) in response to a
Notice of Motion concerning disability, poverty and exercise
referred by Council on 20th March 2025.
 
Resolved:
 
1. That the Notice of Motion
‘disability, poverty and exercise’, be
noted.
 
2. That officers develop a
Physical Activity Plan, in consultation with the Health and
Wellbeing Board, and the Cabinet Member (Social Care and Healthier
Communities), to ensure the proposals of the motion are
actioned.
 
Reasons for
decision:
 
The work and actions set out
will meet the proposals of the motion and further enhance the
Council’s approach to ensure equality and equity of access to
leisure and activity within the city for all individuals and for
those with a disability.
 
Other Options:
 
To reject the
motion.However the intention behind it
supports the Council’s public health ambitions.
