Purpose

Approval to award contract for the main
contractor for the construction of 9 dwellings as part of HRA Land
Review Phase 4

Content

 
That the Cabinet Member:
 
1. Approves the appointment of Auburn Group, in accordance
with the outcome of the procurement exercise, to act as the main
contractor for the construction of 9 Council homes in Lundy Close
(St Laurence ward) and delegate to the Executive Director
for Environment & Place, the authority to finalise the details
of the contract.
 

Reasons for the decision

To progress the HRA Phase 4
project by appointing a main contractor through a competitive
tendering process.
 
To facilitate the construction
of 9 affordable housing units, increasing the city’s
affordable housing stock and reducing housing pressures.
 
Working toward climate
objectives by providing high quality energy efficient
homes

Alternative options considered

Not to make the award. This
would leave the Council without a contractor to undertake the
required works. Resulting in reputational damage related to the
withdrawal of the tender process and the forgoing of any meaningful
progress towards the Council’s stated objectives relating to
housing and sustainability.
