About
The Standards Committee promotes high standards of conduct for councillors and co-opted members of Stockport Council, as required by the Localism Act 2011. It guides members and independent persons on the Code of Conduct, monitors its operation, and reviews the Code and the Council's arrangements. The committee considers complaints against councillors and co-opted members, making assessments and determinations. It also considers reports from the Monitoring Officer on alleged breaches and can grant dispensations for members regarding interests or exemptions for officers.
