Purpose

The Cabinet will be asked to approve the next
phase of the CAN Strategy, covering 2025 – 2030. The
refreshed CAN strategy sets out a clear path for how the council
will approach its target of becoming operationally net zero by
2030. The plan further maps how the council will play a leadership
role in helping all of Stockport become carbon neutral by 2038. It
also sets out how we will ensure council services and communities
in Stockport can become more resilient to the impacts of climate
change.

The Cabinet has
considered a ‘refresh’ of Stockport Council’s CAN
strategy which aimed to cover the next 5-year period and has given
approval to the new ‘refreshed’ One Stockport Climate
and Nature Strategy (2025-2030).
