Purpose

The purpose of this report is to update
members on the conclusion of a business case for the redevelopment
and refurbishment of the Stockport Crematorium and Cemetery site.
The report also seeks Cabinet approval on a recommended option for
this scheme.

Content

The Cabinet has
considered a report providing an update on the conclusion of a
business case for the redevelopment and refurbishment of the
Stockport Crematorium and Cemetery site, and has:-
 
(1) Noted the contents
of this report and approved the approach and the recommended option
and approved the entering into of all necessary legal agreements to
achieve this as required for the redevelopment of Stockport
Crematorium and Cemetery.
 
(2) Delegated
authority to the Deputy Chief Executive and the Director of Place
Management, in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Parks,
Highways & Transport Services and Cabinet Member for Finance
& Resources to authorise the Assistant Director of Governance
to enter into any Grant Funding Agreement or Memorandums of
Understanding with any government department or government
organisation required to deliver the scheme, should they become
available during the implementation of the project.
 
(3) Delegated
authority to the Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Place
Management in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Parks,
Highways & Transport Services and the Cabinet Member for
Finance & Resources to appoint a design team to further develop
and cost the preferred redevelopment proposal and subsequently
deliver this proposal.
 
(4) Delegated
authority to the Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Place
Management in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Parks,
Highways & Transport Services and the Cabinet Member for
Finance & Resources to authorise the Assistant Director of
Governance to enter into any contracts required for the appointment
of any professional services consultants or construction
contractors under a pre-construction services agreement, enabling
or main works packages related to the delivery of the Stockport
Crematorium and Cemetery redevelopment.
 
(5) Given approval for
the development and implementation of any enabling works packages,
which include placement of orders for the new cremators to enable
the Crematorium Redevelopment to be brought forward at pace.
 
(6) Given approval to
undertake further design feasibility work, cost appraisals of the
recommendation development option and bring forth any necessary
planning applications.
