At its meeting on 6 December 2022, the Cabinet
agreed to delegate the decision to continue in the Greater
Manchester Business Rates pooling arrangement to the Deputy Chief
Executive in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Finance and
Resources.
The decision to continue to enter the Business Rates Pooling
arrangement is confirmed annually by each Greater Manchester (GM)
Authority.
On 5 September 2023, the GM Authorities received a letter from the
Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities inviting
individual Authorities to indicate their preferred Business Rates
Pooling arrangement for 2024/25.
The Council alongside the other GM councils, is required to respond
to the invitation and state its decision to accept or decline the
offer of a Business Rate Pool in 2024/25.
The Deputy Chief Executive, in consultation with the Cabinet Member
for Finance and Resources, has agreed not to enter a Business Rates
Pooling arrangement for 2024/25.
