Decision

The Cabinet Member for Parks, Highways & Transport Services has given approval to the following recommendations:

(1)  To continue with the previous decision made on 22nd October 2024 to proceed with the Bus Pinch Points – Compstall Road Zebra Crossing scheme, with the inclusion of an additional disabled parking bay on Cote Green Lane, as shown on Drawing F-0700 007-10 Rev B within Appendix E.

(2)  That approval be given to the amended TROs associated with the Bus Pinch Points – Compstall Road Zebra Crossing scheme and that the orders be made as set out within the revised schedule which was included as Appendix A to the report submitted to the Marple Area Committee on 11th March 2026.

A public question from a resident was submitted in relation to the proposed Zebra Crossing at the Marple Area Committee on 11th March 2026. The details of the question and associated response included within the minutes from the meeting, copy of the Stage 1 Road Safety Audit and associated Designer’s Response and the drawing of the Visibility Splays were considered by the Cabinet Member in making the decision to approve the scheme. These are included as Appendices A-C to this decision record.

Alternative options considered

A number of alternative locations for the Zebra Crossing, and associated waiting restrictions, were considered during development of the design. Further information is included within the report submitted to the Marple Area Committee in July 2024.
The alternative to the proposals laid out in this report is to continue with the current layout and not derive the benefits to active travel and bus stop access that the scheme would provide.
