Purpose

The grant award of funding
secured from Warwickshire County Council (WCC) Public Health Smoke
Free Generation programme, to Spring Housing and
Stratford-upon-Avon Youth Collective to enable new smoking
cessation activity with targeted groups.

Content

To authorise the award of
£5000 grant funding to Spring Housing (£2500) and
Stratford-upon-Avon Youth Collective (£2500), to deliver
smoking and vaping cessation work with client groups identified as
priorities within the Smoke Free Generation programme. Work to be
delivered between 1 December 2025 and 30 November 2026 and in
accordance with the grant agreements developed to ensure delivery
is compliant with the expressed application by the district council
and the conditionals of the WCC Smoke Free Generation Grant funding
2024/25.
 
The full details of the scheme
to be delivered and the accompanying application by Stratford DC to
WCC Smoke Free Generation Grant funding 2024/25 has been seen by
the Portfolio Holder (PFH).

Reasons for the decision

To enable the onward award of
funding allocated to Stratford-on-Avon District Council by WCC
(£5000) to Spring Housing (£2500) and
Stratford-upon-Avon Youth Collective (£2500) to deliver our
commitments resulting from the District Council’s successful
application to receive funding to enable local VCS groups to work
on smoking and vaping cessation.

Alternative options considered

1    
To give authority to proceed with the award of grant
funding and necessary Grant Agreements with both Spring Housing and
Stratford-upon-Avon Youth Collective.
 
2    
To not proceed are return the funding to
Warwickshire County Council.
