To provide a one-off grant of
£1500 towards the publicity costs for the Stratford on Avon
‘pop up’ Museum.
Reasons for the decision
Stratford upon Avon is the main
commercial and shopping centre for the District and attracts significant numbers of
visitors. The town lacks a museum and,
in the longer term, there are aspirations that this will be a key
part of the Stratford Gateway/World Shakespeare Centre project. In
the interim, the Stratford on Avon ‘pop up’ Museum is
being hosted in Harvard House, which has been lent free of charge
by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust and is staffed by volunteers
supported by the Stratford Town Trust and the Stratford Society.
The funding provided by this grant will be used to produce
publicity material to promote the museum to residents and visitors.
This will attract people into the town centre supporting local
businesses and the local economy.
Alternative options considered
1.
To support the application for funding
2.
To refuse the application for funding
3.
To provide an alternative level of
funding
