Purpose

To seek approval for the future proposals of
Denton Festival Hall

Content

That it be DETERMINED that the following are
approved:

1.    
To obtain vacant possession of the property which is occupied by third parties, to
enable a marketing exercise to be undertaken to explore if a
partial conversion of the property to residential development is
possible to cross-subsidise the refurbishment of the Festival Hall
and associated community elements of the property to enable them to
be available for the community following the creation of
residential units within the existing structural
envelope.

2.    
To approve the drafting of a development brief to
scope out the community elements to be retained in a future
conversion.

3.    
To approve the proposed route to market of the
opportunity to assess if there is demand and viability to enable
the proposed conversion to be undertaken.

Reasons for the decision

The property is in a poor state of repair and is no
longer utilised by Council staff or Council services on a full-time
basis.
