Purpose

The purpose of this report was to seek
approval to accept funding on behalf of the ten Greater Manchester
Local Authorities and enter into the funding agreement between
Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council and the Greater Manchester
Combined Authority to continue to support the continued delivery of
the new Greater Manchester Business Compliance Service.

RESOLVED

That Executive Cabinet:

(i)         Accept
the funding on behalf of the ten Greater Manchester Local
Authorities and enter into the funding agreement between Tameside
Metropolitan Borough Council and the Greater Manchester Combined
Authority (GMCA) to continue to support the continued delivery of
the new Greater Manchester Business Compliance Service.  Confirmation of funding allocation is provided in
the Retained Business Rates Update 2025-26, page 11 referenced
Local Authority Business Compliance Team (Appendix 1) and letter of
comfort from the GMCA Treasurer (Appendix 2).

(ii)        Agree for
Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council to be the Lead Partner and
reallocate the GMCA funding to each of the other nine Greater
Manchester Local Authorities by entering into a funding agreement
with each of the other nine Greater Manchester Local Authorities to
support continued delivery of Greater Manchester’s Business
Compliance Support.

(iii)      
Agree to enter into a collaboration agreement with the other nine
Greater Manchester Local Authorities to support continued delivery
of Greater Manchester’s Business Compliance Support.
