Purpose

This report sought to establish appropriate
authority for the Director of Place to ensure the council could
meet its obligations, as a Supporting Authority in the production
of the Greater Manchester LNRS, under The Environment (Local Nature
Recovery Strategies) (Procedure) Regulations 2023.  This primarily related to commenting on the final
strategy prior to its intended publication within the identified
timescales, as set out within chapter 4 of this report.
 
A consultation draft of the GM LNRS was
reported to Board on 10 October 2024.

Authorises the Director of Place, in consultation with the
Executive Member (Growth, Housing and Homelessness) to respond to
the GMCA in accordance with paragraph 15 of The Environment (Local
Nature Recovery Strategies) (Procedure) Regulations 2023 upon
receipt to the council of the publication version of the Greater
Manchester LNRS.
