Purpose

This report outlines the need for additional
post-16 provision in Tameside, driven by the annual increase in
young people causing significant pressure on the Council of meeting
its statutory duty of providing enough post 16 places

The Executive
Cabinet:

(i)   
To note that the in borough post 16
provision is currently lower than our demographic
requirements
(ii)  
To approve the submission of this report to the Department for
Education to support the requirement of additional funding to
increase capacity within our in borough further education
partners.
(iii)To approve the heads of
terms as detailed in Appendix 1 to lease the former Wilko’s
unit in Tameside One to Tameside College.
