Tameside

4.
Any unresolved
objections will be reported at a future Speakers Panel (Planning)
meeting.
If the proposals
to are approved the scheme will be implemented and legal Orders
made to reflect the decision.
Reasons for the decision
The proposed waiting restrictions
aim to prevent problematic parking at significant junction within
the area, enhance road safety and improve traffic movements along
Ashton Hill Lane, Broadway, The Orangery, Silver Lane and
Manchester Road, Audenshaw and Droylsden.
The proposed 20mph speed limit
together with the proposed traffic calming features would serve to
improve road safety by compelling motorists to reduce their speeds
within the zonal area.
Alternative options considered
If the proposed waiting
restrictions are not implemented, there will be no improvement to
road safety or vehicular and pedestrian movements within this
area.
20mph speed limits without physical
features are proven to be less effective at reducing speeds than
those with traffic calming measures. If the 20mph zonal order is not approved but
the traffic calming features are, additional signage would be
required to warn drivers of raised humps.
