Purpose

This report
sought approval for the delivery of the public realm works for the
six priority projects in Stalybridge using secured Capital
Regeneration Projects funding. The report also provided
 an update on the
potential to secure additional City Region Sustainable Transport
Settlement (CRSTS) funding for public realm and sought approval to
progress design work in relation to the Stalybridge War
Memorial.

RESOLVED

(i)                
To approve the
detailed design for the Stalybridge Public Realm priority
projects.

(ii)              
Subject to
recommendation 1, delegate decision making authority for
implementation of the priority public realm projects as part of the
Stalybridge Regeneration Programme to the Strategic Growth
Director, in consultation with the Strategic Director of Housing,
Environment & Estates, the Executive Member for Growth, Housing
and Homelessness and Executive Member for Town Centres and
Connectivity, the S.151 Officer, and Monitoring Officer as
appropriate.

(iii)            
To give approval
to progress design work on the Stalybridge War Memorial, including
delegating decision-making authority for detailed design, necessary
public consultation and related procurement, to the Strategic
Growth Director, in consultation with the Strategic Director of
Housing, Environment & Estates, the S.151 Officer, and
Monitoring Officer as appropriate.

(iv)            
Note that a
further report will be brought to Executive Cabinet on completion
of the design works for the War Memorial to seek any required
approval for delivery 

Alternative options considered

The Stalybridge Public Strategy had
considered a number of design options for the priority project
areas in accordance with the external grant funding
conditions.
