Purpose

The Local
Government and Social Care Ombudsman (LGSCO) are independent from
the Council and investigate complaints about maladministration. The
LGSCO have launched a joint Complaint Handling Code, which is
proposed to be implemented by 01 April 2026. The report set out the
proposed change in relation to the LGSCO Joint Complaint Handling
Code which was proposed to be implemented by the 1 April
2026.

RESOLVED

(i)           
That option 3 as
set out in the report be approved. To adopt the principles of the
Code, but retain the current process and timescales with a
commitment for a clear glide path to work towards adopting in full
within a time period to be determined.

(ii)         
That Cabinet
approves the proposal to enable the Complaints Policy to be
updated
