Stockport Road, Hattersley – Toucan Crossing
March 6, 2026 Strategic Director of Housing, Environment and Estates (Officer) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
Approval is sought to give public
notice of the proposed toucan crossing on Stockport Road,
Hattersley.
Content
That approval be
given under Section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to
give public notice of the installation of a toucan crossing on
Stockport Road, Hattersley.
Reasons for the decision
The introduction of a toucan
crossing at this location will provide a safe, signal-controlled
crossing for both pedestrians and cyclists and enhanced linkage
between Sylvester Close and Chain Bar Lane.
Alternative options considered
A toucan crossing would provide a
safe, signal-controlled crossing point for both pedestrians and
cyclists to replace the now defunct subway /
underpass. If the report is not approved the area will not
benefit from enhanced road safety and improved connectivity at this
location.
