Purpose

(i)                
The Council owns
approximately 15.5 acres of land at Thornley Lane South, which is
shown edged red on the attached plan.

(ii)               
Following a
period of marketing the Council received a total of 3
offers. 
All 3 offers
were received on time and therefore would be considered tender
compliant.

(iii)             
The Council are
looking to accept the best, compliant offer submitted, based on the
set marketing criteria created by estates officers to determine the
most successful bidder. 
Details of the
criteria are set out in paragraph 1.4.

Content

That approval be
given for Tameside Council to accept the bid submitted by bidder 2
of £4,800 (Four Thousand Eight Hundred Pounds) and grants a 3
year lease to the preferred bidder.

Reasons for the decision

To grant a 3-year lease for the
unused grazing land at Thornley Lane South, Denton West providing
the Council with an annual income and to prevent ‘fly
grazing’ or misuse of the land.

Alternative options considered

Do nothing.

Accept any alternative bids
submitted to the Council for the grazing land.
