Purpose

This report confirmed the intention of ST JOSEPHS RC PRIMARY AND NURSERY SCHOOL to convert to an Academy.

Decision

i)                   That approval be given for pension arrangements to be agreed so that employees transferring from the Local Authority to the Academy Trust retain access to the Greater Manchester Pension Fund, with all costs and past liability relating to transferring employees managed through the Multi Academy Trust Pool. 

ii)                That authority be delegated to the Strategic Director of Finance, or their nominated representative, to execute any necessary Greater Manchester Pension Fund for Transferee Admission Bodies documentation.

iii)              That approval be given for the conversion of St Josephs RC Primary and Nursery School to take place on or around 1 November 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. 

Reasons for the decision

To support St Joseph’s RC Primary and Nursery School to convert to Academy status.
