Purpose
The Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for
Local Government (“the Minister”) in exercise of the
powers conferred by section 31 of the Local Government Act 2003,
determined the Electoral Integrity New Burdens Funding –
Grant Determination (2024/25): No. 31/7321. That order provided the
sum of £21,346 to Tendring District Council. The grant is a
specific revenue grant for 2024/25 financial year.
The new burden costs to be met by way of the grant are:
* Administrative costs for processing Voter Authority Certificate
applications
* Staff processing costs for On-line Absent Vote Applications
* Staff processing costs for overseas electors
* Staff costs for EU Voter and Candidacy Requirements
* Communication costs for EU Voter and Candidacy Requirements
Other new burden costs may be claimed through a justification led
bid and, at the point of this decision, it is intended to submit
such a bid.

To accept the grant funding of the sum of
£21,346 from Government and to apply this grant to the
relevant new burdens arising as a consequence of the Elections Act
2022 including specifically costs arising in respect of the
delivery of the United Kingdom Parliamentary General
Election.
