Purpose
Dovercourt High Street has been chosen as one
of ten high streets to receiving funding from a High Street
Accelerator Pilot Programme which was announced in March 2023 as
part of the Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Action Plan.
AIMS:
Bring together local stakeholders to support the long-term revival
and regeneration of Dovercourt High Street.
Develop and deliver a long-term vision to regenerate the high
street.
Delivery projects to revive and regenerate the high street.
In order to spend the funding it was mandatory that each high
street:
must form a partnership, establish a precise geographical boundary
for the partnership, develop a vision, develop a financial plan for
the partnership, and identify and start to deliver projects to
revive and regenerate the high street.
partnerships must include representatives from the local authority,
business, community, and property owners. The partnership is
required to invite the Member of Parliament representing the area
to be involved in some way – potentially in a consultative
capacity
the Chair of the Accelerator partnership must be a non-Local
Authority partner.
the accelerator partnership must develop a term of reference,
governance structure, and meet regularly.
the accelerator partnership must have a project delivery plan and
clear plans for the monitoring and evaluation of progress and
results.
On the 1st March 2024, after forming the partnership, submitting
the vision and a list of projects for year 1, Tendring District
Council (TDC) have now been given permission from the High Street
Accelerator Team (HAS).
On Monday 4th March the partnership confirmed the projects put
forward to HSA would still be the ideal ‘quick wins’
required to get this first year’s funding spent with ongoing
discussions for year 2.
