Clacton Leisure Centre - Lightning Protection
December 15, 2023 Corporate Director (Place & Wellbeing) & Deputy Chief Executive (Officer) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
Following a recent inspection of the lightning
protection at Clacton Leisure Centre, it has come to our attention
that the back building doesn’t have any protection. Carrying
out full lightning protection on our centre ensures that Tending
District Council adheres to the Electricity at Work Regulations
1989. Due to parts of Clacton Leisure Centre’s roofing being
metal cladded, this can increase the likelihood and severity of
lightning strikes on the TDC building, and therefore lighting
protection allows for this risk to be reduced and further protects
our staff, customers, and building from harm.
As such, lightning protection is required to be installed.
The Portfolio Holder for Corporate Finance and Governance and the
Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Public Realm have been consulted
and concur with this decision being made.
