To allocate £11,255.00 of the funding to
remove the existing concrete style bollards within Clacton Town
Centre, replacing them with solar powered bollards around Christmas
Tree Island.
Reasons for the decision
Clacton Town Centre currently has concrete
bollards which are regularly a cause for concern due to the sockets
failing. This could lead to the concrete balls coming loose,
causing a hazard to pedestrians and motorists.
This project is to remove the old concrete bollards around
Christmas Tree Island and replace them with new Solar powered
bollards.
The project will help to enhance a key area of Clacton Town Centre.
The solar bollards will be more aesthetically pleasing providing
extra lighting at night and adding a feature to the Town Centre
adding to its appeal.
Alternative options considered
The UKSPF underspend must be spent and
delivered in full by 31st March 2025, or else be returned to
Central Government; there is no option to carry forward as this
financial year is the end of the current programme.
