To reallocate a sum
of £900 in intervention E10 (Sports and Leisure Widening
Participation) of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to an alternative
project.
This Decision is to
provide £810 in funding to the Sports & Leisure
department within Tendring District Council for a range of courses
designed to equip selected employees with the knowledge and skills
needed to manage health and safety effectively.
Reasons for the decision
Due to unforeseen circumstances, an allocated
£900 of UK Shared Prosperity Funding (in intervention E10,
Sports and Leisure Widening Participation Grant) is unable to be
spent by its recipient. Funding to be returned to Tendring District
Council, and reallocated to an alternative project.
The Sports and Leisure department are currently facing a shortage
of qualified Water Workout instructors across their Leisure
Centres. This shortage has led to customer complaints and issues
with service delivery, impacting their ability to meet the high
demand for these popular sessions.
To address this challenge, they have identified two dedicated
employees who are eager and capable of being upskilled to deliver
Water Workout sessions. This approach will resolve the current
service gaps and enhance the team's versatility and overall
capability.
Alternative options considered
To return the funds to Central
Government.
To re-open the grant scheme as a competitive process which would
risk not gaining responses and being able to be completed in time
