Purpose
On 15 July 2022 Cabinet accepted £0.900m
of funding from local health partners to deliver improvement in
Jaywick Sands.
The Corporate Director for Operations and Delivery, in consultation
with the portfolio holder for Housing, was authorised to implement
the associated schemes and projects.
Exercising this delegation, the Corporate Director signed a
decision on 26 August 2022 to commence a series of projects:
1. The setting up of a dedicated environmental health team to
address poor housing conditions in the private rented housing in
the area.
2. Environmental clean up
3. Improvements to open and green space
The £0.900m funding was originally awarded for a two year
period ending on 31 March 2025. As £0.690m of the original
sum remains unspent a further MOU has has been drafted providing a
further three years from 1 April 2025 in which to spend the
funding. The attached MOU sets out the scope of the project which
is broadly a continuation of strand 1 set out above. Environmental
and open space improvements are now being funded via a separate
route.
