Beach Patrol - Replacement Jet Ski Seadoo
June 26, 2025 Corporate Director (Place & Wellbeing) & Deputy Chief Executive (Officer) Awaiting outcome View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
Due to the age (2012) and condition of the jet
skis, repair costs have increased. The heightened frequency of
repairs required throughout the season has resulted in extended
periods of non-operation during the previous season. This situation
may lead to delayed response times to incidents along the seafront,
potentially causing reputational damage to Tendring District
Council, particularly if an incident results in loss of life while
we are operational.
Content
a) To procure a Jet Ski Seadoo GTI SE 170 from
Offshore Performance / Salterns at a cost of £11,782. This
acquisition is intended to replace an aging jet ski following a
completed request for quote procurement exercise.
b) To enter into contract with Offshore Performance / Salterns
under a PO purchase.
c) To fund this purchase from the revenue budget for the 2025/26
revenue budget code 5164/6045, as agreed as part of the budget
setting process by Full Council in February 2025 as part of the
General Fund budget (General Fund Budget and Council Tax report
– 2025/26).
Alternative options considered
Not to purchase the equipment which would
impact the Beach Patrol Service Operations in the event of an
emergency.
