Purpose
Essex County Council (ECC) are proposing a
trial reuse scheme at Clacton Recycling Centre where garden items
which have been left at the recycling centre by members of the
public are made available to Dig 4 Jaywick.
Dig 4 Jaywick is a community garden project, run by Tendring
District Council, in partnership with the Dig4 Jaywick Community
Garden Group. The overall aim of the project is to promote the
benefit of community gardening, help educate the public in
horticulture and nature and provide resources and therapeutic
activities.
Access to gardening equipment which has been deposited at the
Recycling Centre will assist the sustainability of the Dig 4
Jaywick project.
Content
To accept and sign the Memorandum of
Understanding (MOU) between Essex County Council (ECC) and Tendring
District Council (TDC) to participate in a trial for Dig 4 Jaywick,
a TDC led project, to collect reusable garden items brought to
Clacton Recycling Centre by members of the public.
Alternative options considered
To not sign the MOU but this will mean that
Dig 4 Jaywick will not be able to access further equipment which
could help it become more sustainable.
