Purpose

The decision to adopt The Heritage Strategy
was made by Cabinet 24 March 2020, which set out an objective to
create and adopt a local list of non-designated heritage assets.
The final version of the Local List Criteria was adopted by Cabinet
26th July 2024.

Content

To appoint Essex County Council (Place
Services) to assess nominated assets against the agreed criteria
for inclusion on the Local Heritage List and produce reports
accordingly of those assets included or excluded from the
list.

ECC Place Services will be directly appointed under the Local
Authority (Goods and Services) Act 1970.

Alternative options considered

Option 1 – Appoint Place Services to
undertake the work.
Option 2 - Appoint an external consultant at a less competitive
rate. Previous studies and estimated costs indicate Place Services
would provide value for money compared to companies in the private
sector.
Option 3 – Do nothing.
