Purpose

Ardleigh Parish Council have been given the
opportunity to purchase an area of open space, currently in private
ownership and being used as allotments. The Parish would like to
apply for S106 money towards the purchase of this land. As part of
the purchase agreement they have committed to maintaining the land
for public amenity and it is designated at a Local Protected Green
Space (via the Neighbourhood Plan). Part of the land would be used
for an extension to the current cemetery which adjoins the existing
cemetery which is nearly out of space. The remainder will be
retained for growing vegetables.

To release £45,000
of Section 106 money to Ardleigh Parish for the purchase of new
open space land to be used by the community of Ardleigh.

Alternative options considered

S106 money can only be used for the purpose
specified in the S106 agreement. Any unallocated money will need to
be returned to the developer
