To
utilise a budget set aside for seasonal grounds maintenance and
cleaning costs for the employment of a further 3 temporary staff on
6-month, fixed term contracts.

Reasons for the decision

These posts are
required to support the public realm open space service to deliver
services across the District. The
total cost of recruiting to the proposed posts is
£45,900.
 
Good quality public realm has
a number of positive benefits for any
community including providing a sense of pride and wellbeing in the
local community. Quality public realm improvement projects is known to contribute to lower crime, increased
investment and regeneration as well as benefits to physical and
mental health. 
 
The fixed term posts are required to
support the public realm open space service to deliver services
across the District. This will include
improvement to Clacton Seafront and to react to complaints within
48 hours.
  
 

Alternative options considered

The Council could employ contractors
within the field which would result in increased costs and works
not carried out as required.
