Purpose

To control the levels of legionella, it is
necessary to carry out remedial works which will include the
removal of the two cold-water storage tanks and the old hot water
cylinder that supply the astro changing area. This will include the
conversion of the system to mains cold-water supply.
The installation of two electric showers (one per block) and two
10L point-of use water heaters.
The disinfection of the system prior to opening back to the
public.

To appoint and award Concept Environmental
Solutions under purchase order arrangement to carry out remedial
works which include removing the two cold-waters storage tanks, and
the old hot water cylinder that supply the Astro changing area.
These works are required to control the levels of legionella. The
purchase order amount is £10,060.00

Portfolio Holder for Corporate Finance & Governance and
Portfolio Holder for Leisure & Public Realm concurred to fund
the works from the 2025/26 Leisure Capital Projects Reserve. This
will mean committing £10,060.00 from this budget.

Alternative options considered

There will be no impact to LGR as this is
one-off works required. This will however support asset
improvements, which will reduce risks to any future Unitary
Authority.
