The Portfolio Holder for Housing notes the
contents of the report on title and approves:-
i) Acceptance of the transfer of gifted units - 11 plots at the
Plough Road, Great Bentley development, namely, Plots 76-86
(inclusive) (houses) Plough Road, Great Bentley also known as 22-2
(in reverse) Marjorie Mitchell Way, Great Bentley, Colchester,
Essex based on the recommendation made by the Assistant Director of
Planning.
(ii) Authorise the Corporate Director (Operations and Delivery) to
complete the transfer of the gifted units from the developer to the
Council.
iii) Acquiring a shareholding in Ufford Chase (Great Bentley)
Management Company Limited (Company Registration Number 13754774)
with the official representative of the Council to be nominated by
the Chief Executive.
Reasons for the decision
Under Schedule 2 of the S106 Agreement dated 7
June 2017, the Developer is required to transfer the
affordable/gifted units to the Council at £1.00 per
plot.
Alternative options considered
To decline the transfer of the
affordable/gifted units is not an option. The acceptance of the
gifted units forms part of the Council's housing strategy to
increase its housing stock.
