Purpose
There is a set of concrete steps at The Leas,
Frinton and a second set of similar steps at Southcliff in Walton,
that are in need of repairs and maintenance due to cliff movement
and general wear and tear. Consideration was given to how best to
address this. Other options are set out below and it was agreed to
go forward with new metal steps over the top of the current
concrete steps. These new steps will be fully adjustable so can be
altered as and when further movement occurs.
A full tender process was carried out with all tenders received
evaluated in accordance with the scoring criteria. Frank Halls
& Sons Ltd scored highest and in consultation with the
Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Public Realm it is agreed to
proceed with them to carry out this work.
Content
To accept the tender from Frank Hall &
Sons and seal and complete the Contract with them for the
construction of new steps access at The Leas, Frinton and
Southcliff, Walton. Cost to be met from the Beach Hut/Seafront
Investment budget.
Alternative options considered
This project will address a significant
current repair and maintenance requirement, as well as providing an
adjustable solution going forward to mitigate future repair and
maintenance cost in this area going forward into a new Unitary
Authority.
