Purpose
Colchester City Council has published its
Regulation 18 draft Local Plan for consultation and invited
Tendring District Council to comment. The two authorities have a
long standing and constructive working relationship on strategic
planning matters, supported by regular liaison and collaborative
cross boundary work.
The response also reiterates both authorities’ commitment to
preparing a Statement of Common Ground, which will help ensure
continued alignment on strategic cross boundary issues as each
authority moves towards Local Plan examination.
Submitting the response ensures Tendring District Council provides
a constructive and proportionate contribution to the consultation
process, consistent with the collaborative approach established
between the two authorities.
Content
To formally submit the response prepared by
Tendring District Council that acknowledges this ongoing
cooperation and confirms that the Council has no formal comments to
submit on the content of the draft Local Plan at this stage.
However, it does express its support for Colchester City
Council’s continued efforts to progress its Local Plan in
challenging circumstances and to an ambitious timetable.
Alternative options considered
Tendring District Council and Colchester City
Council continue to work collaboratively on strategic planning
matters across the wider North Essex area. The submission of this
consultation response aligns with ongoing cross boundary
cooperation, including future work on a Statement of Common Ground.
No direct implications arise in relation to Local Government
Reorganisation or Devolution.
