Governance & Audit Committee

The Governance & Audit Committee is a sub-committee of Thanet Full Council responsible for overseeing the council's audit activities, regulatory framework, and accounts. It reviews internal and external audit reports, monitors risk management and governance arrangements, and approves key policies such as those on anti-bribery and whistleblowing. The committee also approves the council's Annual Governance Statement and the annual Statement of Accounts, ensuring compliance with accounting policies and best practices. Its remit includes challenging audit plans and commissioning work from auditors, with a focus on maintaining good governance and financial integrity for the council and its residents.
