Purpose
The Government is seeking views on reforms to the planning system, specifically the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF). The Council’s draft response is set out in Appendix A.

RESOLVED that
the response (attached at Appendix A ) is sent to the Ministry of Housing,
Communities and Local Government.
Reasons for the decision
The new Government is seeking views on its approach to
revising the National Planning Policy Framework to achieve sustainable growth
in the planning system.
It is seeking views on a wide range of policy proposals in
relation to increasing planning fees, local plan intervention criteria and
appropriate thresholds for certain Nationally Significant Infrastructure
projects. The Government expects to conclude and adopt a final version as
policy by December 2024.
